American Idol February 27, 2013

The first television show to truly integrate audience participation into their show by having fans call in their vote has taken more and more steps to keep audience involved. The once strong standing show has had a couple of slips in the past couple years with changing judges and lost interest. The above video is their promo for the 2013 season which features three new judges. An article written by the New York Times states that American Idol is now using Twitter to encourage their fans to start online polls which the contestants are preforming. They will start having fan polls during performances as well. This interesting to me because it shows how much audiences control the media and what they produce according to what we want to see. American Idol is doing whatever they can to keep an active and broad audience.
